These pictures show the raising of the trusses and application of plywood. The shingles used on this home are Certainteed brand Landmark.

We used Anderson windows in this home. Very nice.

 

WELL DRILLING

The well was drilled to 108 feet. Hartert Well Drilling from Wabasha, MN drilled the well. The pictures show the owner, Ed Hartert doing the work.

The siding used on this home is called LP Smart Side. It is made by the Louisiana-Pacific Corporation ( www.lpsmartside.com ). It is made from OSB. The same type of plywood you would use on walls and roofs when framing. At first I was skeptical of using OSB as siding but after seeing it you understand what a good product it is. It comes finished or unfinished. The finish is a very hard paint that appears to be able to withstand the years well. We used the finished product which comes with a 25 year parts and labor warranty. The warranty is a huge selling point for me. It is comparable in price and looks similar to fiber cement types of siding. LP offers it in different lap sizes and also as a 4' x 8' sheet that looks like T-111.   The homeowner chose a 6" lap. Since it is wood it is much easier to install than fiber cement.

 

SOLO TUBE

 A solo tube is used to bring natural light into the home. It is commonly used in an area with low natural light due to a lack of windows. Hallways and rooms located in the center of the home are common places. They come in different sizes and are matched to the amount of light you want to bring in your room.

 

KITCHEN

These are views of the kitchen cabinets and counter tops. Can lighting was used to light the kitchen. There are two switches. One is for the general lighting of the whole kitchen and the other is for above the sink only. There are also under cabinet lights that are great to light up your counters and are energy efficient.

 

ELECTRICAL

These are pictures of the electrical panels. The silver box on the left and the grey panel above it are for a generator. If the power goes out you throw the switch on the silver box and it transfers power from your generator to your house. The amount of appliances and lights operated are decided by the size of your generator. The silver box is needed so that when you apply power from your generator you don't back feed the main power line a shock the lineman.
